Established on a pro bono basis by industry veterans David Dayton and Steve Morgan, CESI works alongside our community partners to bring the funding and technical expertise needed to build a healthier and more resilient society. Our vision is a world where energy is a public good that directly serves the needs of the communities it’s in. CESI is deeply mission-driven and committed to leveraging our decades of experience to benefit underserved environmental justice communities in the most democratic and equitable ways possible.

Our Story

CESI was formed during the nascent stages of the energy services and microgrid industries by Dave Dayton and Steve Morgan. Pioneering those evolutions gave these founders special perspectives on the exciting potential, and possible hazards, in both industries. They resolved to share those perspectives with public and nonprofit organizations, especially in environmental justice (EJ) communities. This has led to a wide practice in many municipalities, states, and NPOs. Providing guidance, raising funds, and developing new programs and organizations has also required CESI to form close partnerships with firms specializing in new technologies and similarly committed to EJ principles.
