Carpet Recycling UK was launched in 2008. We now have over 100 members from across the carpet industry, including some of the UK’s leading manufacturers and distributors. Our activities are funded by annual membership subscriptions, with support from our Core Funder members being key to our success.

400,000 tonnes of carpet waste arise in the UK every year. Back in 2008, 98% of this waste was going into landfill – a huge environmental concern.

Our founders created Carpet Recycling UK with the vision of creating greater opportunities to divert carpet waste from landfill and recover raw materials.  These opportunities include waste prevention, designing for recycling, take-back schemes, and greater re-use and recycling of carpet.

Our Core Funders are taking a lead because they recognise that producer responsibility for the product at end of first life is essential for building a sustainable business model into the future.
