Since 1986, Brownsville GMS Ltd. (“GMS”) has enjoyed serving the City of Brownsville (“City”) by providing Commercial Solid Waste Collection Services. GMS’ initial relationship began with a 5-year contract and a 5% franchise fee.

We believe that our 38-year relationship with the City is the result of our commitment as a service provider and to the community at large.

GMS’ role as a service provider has evolved over decades. For example, GMS was eager to accept the additional responsibility of operating the City’s recycling center at no additional expense. Because GMS is a resident of the City, its commitment to the local community is genuine.

GMS understands that effective community recycling programs directly and positively impact both the environment and our local economy. Being an upstanding corporate citizen means doing more than simply providing a quality service, it also entails accepting and assuming a role of community leadership.

GMS is proud that its operation of the recycling center has not only eliminated over $100,000 in expenses annually from the City’s budget but contributed over $161,000 in revenue to the City. In short, GMS’ activities have reduced the amount of waste that enters our local landfills and the expense of same while saving our fellow citizens $1.2 million in operating costs.
