About Company

From excavator operation to recycling company

1968 - 1975 The young Heinrich Brockmann carries out various earthworks. He quickly realizes that a powerful device can also improve economic success. The first excavator is purchased and a business is registered. From pure earthworks and shaft work, a company develops that also makes a name for itself through the manufacture of domestic sewage treatment plants: Brockmann-Kläranlagen KG is born.

1975 - 1989 The small company grows. And with the young company, the number of tools and employees. The orders are getting bigger and more extensive and the associated costs for construction material deliveries and disposal of construction waste are increasing. No entrepreneur likes high costs - not even Heinrich Brockmann. So is invested:

• A vehicle fleet is created, with its own approval for freight transport. Building materials are delivered more cheaply and transports can also be taken over for external companies.
• Investment in the then ultra-modern interchangeable container system. A system that is still paying off today.
• Expansion of activities in civil engineering, through z. B. Complex demolition and additional construction services.
• And - probably the most important investment for this period - a separate, huge disposal area in a former gravel pit in Nützen near Kaltenkirchen.

Why most important? Because Heinrich Brockmann recognized that there were still components in a lot of construction waste that were simply too valuable to be dumped back then, e.g. B. scrap, metals and sometimes wood. So it was sorted. A new line of business emerged. Renaming the growing company to Brockmann KG in the meantime was therefore only the logical consequence.

1989 - 1998 Further expansion of all business areas. In particular, the first large-scale sorting plant for construction waste in northern Germany was put into operation in Nützen. With the support of the state government at the time and public waste management agencies, the recycling sector is being continuously promoted and other waste is not only sorted, such as B. commercial waste and bulky waste, but also picked up by the Brockmann fleet.

For this purpose the recycling center Nützen was founded and took over the tasks of a modern recycling company including the further marketing of sorted residual waste far beyond the German national borders. Large amounts of waste wood from northern Germany were processed at Brockmann early on and exported to Swedish thermal power plants.

With so much entrepreneurial activity in the field of recycling, the recording of used sales packaging (green dot) within the dual system by Brockmann was only the logical consequence. A second sorting system was built, of course again with the most modern technology. From now on the company was named Brockmann Recycling.

From 1999 Despite the great success in the field of recycling, Heinrich Brockmann never forgot the nucleus of his entrepreneurial activity - namely the classic civil engineering and the associated ancillary services. The demolition area was successfully continued, the range of containers for special waste was continuously expanded, and construction services were perfected. And with innovative basic ideas, the gardening and landscaping division was integrated into the earthworks division in 1999. Typically Brockmann too, of course - successful.

Today all sorting and processing plants are combined at the Nützen site and form the largest connected recycling company in Schleswig-Holstein. All business areas of the family-run Brockmann Recycling company will continue to be equipped for all future tasks with the most modern equipment and highly motivated, reliable employees. In the spirit of the company's founder Heinrich Brockmann.

In memoriam
Heinrich Brockmann, b. 04.08.1946, in addition to his entrepreneurial activity, was a co-founder of the waste disposal associations in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein and volunteered on the board of these business associations. Unfortunately, he died much too early in March 2003. However, as shown, he had built his company so future-proof that it can be successfully continued today by his wife Monika Brockmann, his two sons Frank and Dirk Brockmann and long-term employees who have loyally stood by his side on his not always easy path .
