Blakeman Steel Inc. went into business in January, 1988. The three partners of Blakeman Steel Inc. are George, Allen and Billy Blakeman.George Blakeman started in the business with Minnis Steel in the early sixties as a crane operator. He later moved into the front office as an estimator/manager until starting Blakeman McBride Steel Erection Company with his partner Barry McBride in 1973. Their work consisted of both structural steel, concrete tilt wall and metal building erection.
In 1987 George and Barry split up with Barry McBride taking the metal erection side of the business and George taking the structural/tilt wall side. George along with his son Allen and nephew Billy started Blakeman Steel Inc.Billy Blakeman, George’s nephew, began working with Blakeman McBride in 1974 while going to college. After college he moved into the office as an estimator and eventually manager.Allen started with Blakeman McBride in the late 70’s and worked as a mechanic before overseeing the mechanical end of Blakeman Steel.
Blakeman Steel Inc., for the year 2008, had grown to over 160 employees, 16 crews and generated $15,000,000 in revenues. They own their own equipment (10 cranes ranging from 35 to 250 tons), Skytracs, boomlifts, scissorlifts, etc.Blakeman Steel has worked with most of the major general contractors and fabricators in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They erect tilt wall not only for theirselves, but other erectors as well.
