The BWS is a purely municipal company and only offers administrative services in connection with the packaging ordinance.

One of the main tasks of the BWS is to advise the citizens of the two Bergisch districts on questions about the sorting of recyclables and disposal alternatives.

The operational disposal tasks in the region are carried out by municipal and private companies. RELOGA GmbH is specifically responsible for cleaning the areas around the glass containers. The collection and transport of used sales packaging is in turn the task of private disposal companies. The BWS supports the operative companies as a communication partner. In concrete terms, this means that the BWS clarifies and answers all service-related disposal questions from the region.

Another task of the ESPE is the documentation of packaging material flows.
