Attero is a nationally and internationally operating environmental company. We have been active in recovering and reusing the energy and raw materials from our waste for more than 90 years. Our company has been built up from powerful waste processing companies to become today's market leader in our country.

What are we doing!

Our energy from waste plants in Moerdijk, Wijster and Groningen process residual waste into energy. That is half of our annual waste supply to be processed. Attero believes that incineration of residual waste is valuable and responsible. It provides sustainable energy in the form of heat and / or electricity. And half green too. We do not need to extract oil, coal or gas from the earth for that. In addition to wind energy, energy from waste has been the largest source of sustainable energy in our country for years.

But Attero is also the market leader when it comes to recovering raw materials from residual waste. Our separation and sorting installations remove plastics, beverage cartons, metals and food residues that are converted into raw materials and energy. Attero also calls this combined waste processing concept into raw material and energy the EFW2.0 concept. Plastics are then sorted by type and then washed, shredded and granulated into new plastic granules, so that new products can be made from them.

And what about compost products for a healthy soil for our crops and vegetables, the planting of trees or the construction of recreational areas and sports fields. Every year, Attero produces hundreds of thousands of tons of high-quality compost from source-separated organic waste. And, in addition, millions of cubic meters of green gas, as a clean alternative to fossil natural gas.

Attero also cleans contaminated soil, converts debris into usable paving material and makes Lego concrete blocks and partitions from inert flows. Products and raw materials that limit the excavation of vulnerable areas for sand and gravel extraction.

And for harmful substances that we want to keep out of the environment for good, Attero will still offer the utility of landfill in the coming decades. This allows us, for example, to permanently remove asbestos roofs from our living environment.

We tailor our processes to the wishes of our customers. Efficiency, sustainable and safe working and low costs are leading. That is why we continuously adapt our techniques. In this way we want to continue to make our contribution to a clean living environment. With all these efforts we succeed in working almost COâ‚‚ neutral. That motivates us and gives us energy.

We believe that the processing, recycling, production of energy and recovery of waste must be affordable and profitable. There must be a level playing field when it comes to attracting waste flows and marketing the energy and raw materials produced.

Attero's position in the Dutch waste market is unique because we have extensive strategic buffer capacity. We are allowed to temporarily store significant amounts of residual waste at our disposal sites in Tilburg and Wijster. As a reliable partner, we can always accept waste from our customers. Moreover, we are always able to run at full load. This allows us to manage very efficiently and effectively for optimal use of the available processing capacity of our energy from waste plants. Customers can always come to us if they have a problem with their waste. We do not leave them out in the cold and together we find a solution that fits.  

Our employees

Our 800 enthusiastic and committed employees process 3.5 million tons of waste annually. They do this at 15 operational locations in our country. Our working environment is dynamic and every day is a new challenge. We pay a lot of attention to safety for our people. It has the highest priority. Our strategy

Our goals are to provide added value and customization for our stakeholders in the areas of reuse of raw materials, waste management and the generation and supply of sustainable energy. Attero supports the national policy aimed at reducing the use of primary raw materials by 50 percent by 2030. We also see it as our task to make a maximum contribution to realizing the use of at least 14 percent renewable energy in our country by 2020 .
