Headquartered in West Chester, Ohio (Greater Cincinnati), AK Steel is a leading producer of flat-rolled carbon and carbon and stainless tubular products, primarily for automotive, infrastructure and manufacturing, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company is headquartered in West Chester, Ohio (Greater Cincinnati), and operates eight steel plants, two coke plants and two tube manufacturing plants across six states (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia) and one tube plant in Mexico.

Roger K. Newport is AK Steel's Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. He was named CEO January 1, 2016.

AK Steel is a publicly held company traded over the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AKS and is a component of the FORTUNE 500 – aligning the company with many of the most prominent corporations in America.

AK Steel employs about 8,500 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pennsylvania; Ashland, Kentucky; Rockport, Indiana; Dearborn, Michigan and its corporate headquarters. AK Tube LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 300 men and women at plants in Walbridge, Ohio and Columbus, Indiana and Queretaro, Mexico. AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded (ERW) tubularsteel products for truck, automotive and other markets. AK Coal Resources, Inc., another wholly-owned subsidiary of AK Steel, controls and is developing metallurgical coal reserves in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

AK Steel's 2015 revenues reached approximately $6.7 billion. The company was named "Steel Producer of the Year" by American Metal Market in 2010 and is recognized by Toyota for quality performance and supplier diversity achievement.
