R2 Recycling Leader programs adds 3 new members

SPOKANE (Scrap Monster): Three more companies have joined the R2 Recycling Leader Program. Arrow Electronics, Blancco and JT Environmental Consulting are the three companies that have joined the SERI initiative to spread sustainable and responsible electronics recycling practices.

Being part of the initiative, the three companies will work towards solving today’s e-scrap challenges by supporting certified recyclers and responsible electronics recycling around the world. Arrow Electronics will provide training to facility managers in the Latin America region. The training will be provided on R2 standard and other projects. Blancco will organize a college and university outreach campaign to raise awareness of data security and responsible electronics recycling issues for students, staff and faculty. Meantime, JT Environmental Consulting has agreed to donate consulting services to aid electronics recyclers and electronics recycling projects.

The volume of used electronics is expected to increase over 33% by the end of the decade. Currently, less than 20% of discarded electronics are being safely recycled. R2 Certification improves electronics recycling practices around the world by ensuring accountability and adherence to the highest industry standards for data security and the protection of workers and the environment. R2 Certified recyclers and refurbishers currently operate in 18 countries around the world.
