Pakistan's scrap imports plunged 30% in Oct '14

NEW DELHI (Scrap Monster): The most recent statistics released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS) indicates that the country’s scrap imports plunged significantly during the month of October this year.

The scrap imports by Pakistan during the month totaled around 200,000 tons. The imports declined by 30.6% when matched with the previous month. The country had imported 290,000 tons of scrap during Sep ’14. When compared with the imports during the same month a year before, the Oct ’14 imports were up by 7.1%.

As per PFBS, the scrap imports generated total revenue of $81.75 million. The revenues were up 44.2% from the previous month. However, scrap import revenues by Pakistan dropped by 20.6% over the previous year.
