Japanese H2 scrap base prices unmoved in Tokyo Bay region

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): According to reports, the average base price of Japanese H2 scrap remained steady in the country’s Tokyo Bay region. On the other hand, the average prices witnessed marginal decline in the Japanese Kanto region.

The base price of H2 scraps averaged at ï¿¥32,000 to 32,500 per ton in the Tokyo Bay region as on August 4th. At the same time, base price of P&S scraps and Shindachi scraps averaged at ï¿¥34,000 to 34,500 per ton in the region. As per industry sources, the average base prices of Japanese H2 scrap are expected to remain steady in the forthcoming week as well.

On the other hand, the H2 scrap average prices declined to ï¿¥32,000 per ton in the Japanese Kanto region. The cut in scrap purchase prices by the country’s electric furnace mills follows Tokyo Steel’s decision on July 30th to lower the scrap buying price at its Utsunomiya works by ï¿¥500 per ton.

Meanwhile, Tokyo Steel had announced that scrap purchasing prices at other regions will remain unchanged.
