Fire at McAdoos Lane scrap metal facility, under control

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): A huge fire broke out at a scrap metal recycling facility on McAdoos Lane, Canada. According to media reports, the fire fighters are still battling out the fire.

The fire occurred at ANS Scrap Metal site at 1158 McAdoos Lane, Kingston, Ontario. According to Kingston Fire and Rescue Department, the fire was reported at around 4.00 PM, Wednesday August 6th. They were joined by South Frontenac Fire and Rescue.

The fire sent thick black smoke into the surrounding air and could be seen for kilometers.

According to staff member, fire started at one of the bailer equipment which is used to crushe scrap metal. The spark might have ignited the fire which spread quickly to the pile of scrap metal.

Firefighters made use of water from temporary reservoirs to extinguish the fire. When fire officials were about to extinguish the fire, another ball of fire suddenly erupted. However, the fire was contained to the pile of scrap metal within the yard facility. There are no reports of damage to nearby buildings.

As per initial reports, there were no injuries or casualties. However, the fire is estimated to have caused damages worth $ 600,000.
