History

Spartan Recycling Group has a long family history in the scrap metal industry. In the mid 1970s Marvin Siegel left the textile business for Spartan Iron & Metal Corp., a scrap metal processor with single locations in Spartanburg and Greenville, SC. He worked his way from manager to partner and eventually to sole proprietor. By 1990 the company also employed his three sons and together they expanded the business including a third state-of the-art greenfield facility to serve a growing industrial base.
Carolinas Recycling Group

In 1998 the Siegels co-founded Carolinas Recycling Group (CRG) which grew in size to include numerous facilities in both Carolinas and Georgia and was recognized as the 14th largest scrap metal processor in North America (Waste News survey). CRG and its successor company (Recycle South) operated more than 20 facilities before it was acquired in 2008 by a steel manufacturer based in the mid west.

Spartan Recycling specializes in serving industry with a fleet of containers, trailers and trucks to accumulate and transport scrap metal 24 hours per day and seven days per week.  We respond promptly to your requests with flexible solutions that keep your handling costs low and maximize revenue for your scrap metal.  Our systems include rolloffs, trailers and in-plant hoppers to match your material collection in the most efficient manner possible. All material leaving your facility is handled safely without harm to the environment – you can be confident that your scrap is processed in the most professional manner.

Retail Services

Our Spartanburg facility accepts scrap Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. We offer a drive-thru service where your nonferrous metals will be unloaded inside our retail building providing for a clean and quick entrance and exit. We unload ferrous material into a dedicated bin segregated from other traffic. Our staff will weigh and assist in promptly processing payment. Please bring your driver’s license or other state issued identification and permit to sell non-ferrous metals (if applicable) so your transaction can be completed in compliance with state & local law and company policy.
