Bill graduated from Clemson University in 1982 with a BS in Business. Following graduation, he opened a garbage company, which he then sold to Fennell Waste (now known as Republic Services). Bill worked for Fennell for a year after, then worked in the recycling industry for 3½ years in the late 1980s as a mill buyer. Bill founded Recover in the early 1990s, on his own, with no partners.
