Specialty waste includes but is not limited to electronics waste, televisions, monitors, universal waste lamps, batteries and latex paint products. Founded in April of 2011, our company brings an extensive knowledge of the waste and recycling industry, as well as industry connections that have fostered our initial growth. Our goal is to provide our customer base with convenient, cost effective and customer friendly service experiences.
Our model includes the bundling of services that usually require multiple vendors or have traditionally been managed through a hazardous waste hauler at significantly higher rates. North Coast Services utilizes its extensive waste experience to help customers manage these specialty wastes at a significant reduction in cost. Our customer base includes municipal transfer stations, schools and higher education, health care, environmental service companies, light industrial and many other commercial entities.
The North Coast Services sales and marketing strategy is based on a sales and support model unique to our industry. Our sales people directly service the accounts they sell. We believe this model ensures the highest level of customer service and maximizes our understanding of customer’s waste generation cycle and service needs.
From our base of operations in Portsmouth, NH, North Coast Services is uniquely positioned to provide cost-effective drop off, collection and materials management services throughout the Northeast, including Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. Currently, we are providing collection and consolidation services through our primary location in Portsmouth. We also manage two consolidation points, in Bangor and Scarborough, ME.
Our focus is on the proper management of specialty waste, including electronics, universal waste lamps, batteries, Freon-bearing appliances, latex paint and other non-hazardous wastes.
Our management team brings 40 plus years of waste and recycling service experience to the business. Industry experience ranges from proper identification and management of RCRA hazardous waste, asset management of IT equipment through the collection and handling of universal waste lamps, and batteries collected from consumer sources.
Our facility consists of covered and secure warehouse space. Prior to acceptance, all materials must be containerized using industry standard packaging. Universal waste lamps are placed on racks to protect the materials while in storage. Mercury containing lamps and rechargeable batteries are repacked and consolidated for shipment to an approved recycler. Electronics are triaged for type and condition upon receipt. Data containing equipment is isolated and secured for electronic erasure services on site. Based on customer specification, reusable electronics are set aside for possible resale after thorough testing. All equipment that is determined to be “End of Life” is manually disassembled into commodity components for recycling.
Hazardous Waste - While North Coast Services does not recycle hazardous waste, it does use its connections in the industry to broker services. Included in this service is the gathering of multiple quotes to ensure that the customer gets the best price.
Data Destruction - North Coast Services offers data destruction. Equipment containing confidential data is isolated and secured for electronic erasure services on site. North Coast uses a combination of digital shredding technology and physical destruction to ensure data security.
Other Specialty Waste - North Coast Services offers collection and recycling services for many other specialty waste streams. Non-Hazardous liquid waste such as Latex paint are collected and managed to reduce additional handling required before these materials can be treated as regular solid waste. We use our industry experience to help customers safely manage these special waste streams.
Commodity Revenue Share - North Coast Services offers an Asset Revenue Share program in which North Coast takes in material for resale and provides a Revenue Share back to the customer. The credit can be used against an invoice, if applicable, or a check can be issued at the customer’s request. North Coast does not back charge for items handled if we are unsuccessful at moving through a reuse program and the material must be managed as scrap. North Coast provides a purchase order to the customer for item(s) sold and will provide any back-up data for the sold item(s) as requested.North Coast assumes responsibility from the time of pickup at the customer’s facility through the sale or “End of Life” of the product(s) and will provide a Certificate of Recycling once received or processed for End of Life.
The health and safety of our employees is of the utmost importance to North Coast Services. Warehouse employees are required at all times to use personal protective equipment such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses and appropriate gloves. In addition, North Coast periodically evaluates the dismantling process to ensure that employees are not overly exposed to metals of concern.
