Mitch's Iron & Metal Ltd. is a family-owned and operated business specializing in scrap metal recycling. The company was founded by Mitchell Golberg in 1955. Mitch started out collecting scrap metal in his Ford pickup truck and saw an opportunity for a future in the scrap metal business. With his core values of honesty and integrity, he quickly earned the respect of customers and suppliers alike.
In the early years of Mitch's Iron & Metal Ltd., Mitch was a one-man show. He knocked on doors establishing his customer base. He serviced the customer in his truck and at the end of the day was busy maintaining his books!
Mitch added the family element to the company in 1975 when his daughter Linda joined the company. Linda quickly learned the ins and outs of the business working alongside her father. Before long, Linda had taken over multiple tasks including accounting, banking and sales. Watching her father deal with customers, she quickly learned Mitch's negotiating skills.
In 1985, after graduating from University, Mitch's son Sydney also joined the company. Under the tutelage of his father, he learned the buying and selling aspects of the business while establishing his own rapport with customers and suppliers. Under the management of his daughter and son, the company has expanded and now 50 years later, MIM is still growing and changing to meet the ever-changing needs of the scrap metal industry.
