About Us

Kamloops Scrap Iron was established in 1981, but a scrap yard has been at the corner of the Ord Road and 8th Street since the early 60's. Scrap metals are received at the yard from industries such as logging and mining, local businesses, as well as the public at large.  On site scrap removal throughout the central interior is a specialty. After being processed, materials are sent out to diverse markets. For example, steel is generally sold to domestic markets; aluminum and copper are often exported to Pacific Rim countries.

A tremendous volume of material moves through the yard daily. In a year, millions of pounds of scrap, consisting of steel, copper, aluminum, batteries, brass, and radiators, are processed at Kamloops Scrap Iron Ltd.  By recycling, Kamloops Scrap Iron Ltd plays a vital role in the effective management of solid waste, contributing to a safe, clean environment for Kamloops.

What we sell:

Kamloops Scrap Iron processes copper, brass, and aluminum in many ways. Our baling operation produces both hard and soft bales. Using our sweat furnace we manufacture aluminum ingots. Insulated copper can be processed through our wire chopping line. Our 540 ton guillotine shear prepares scrap steel for loading into railcars on our siding. We are serviced by both national railways - Canadian National and Canadian Pacific. Our location in central British Columbia, gives us ready access to road and rail, making overseas container shipment effective and reasonable.
