TRADITION: In 1964, Joe LaFountain began learning about plastics and the plastic business. Working as a materials handler, operator, inspector and sales representative, Joe learned all sides of the industry. After ten years, he started his own plastics recycling company, convinced that it would be successful because it was built on hard work and solid family values. Today, his family continues the tradition by producing top quality products and offering superior customer service.
Joe's Plastics was established in 1974 with the goal of providing an outlet to companies generating plastic scrap as a byproduct of their production process. Over the years the company has grown to incorporate a wide variety of thermoplastic resin sources and end markets. The source material we use in our reprocessed plastic comes from many different suppliers. This includes companies that generate scrap from products they manufacture and products they receive. Joe's Plastics also buys obsolete and damaged plastic products.

We’re Eco – Friendly Joe’s Plastics has been a leader in the plastic recycling industry for over 30 years. Our Los Angeles location alone takes in over 10 million pounds of plastic per year for reprocessing, compounding, re-sale and re-use.Using 100% recycled plastic from Joe’s Plastics for your products is not only good for the environment, by keeping plastic out of our land fills, it also is cost effective. Using virgin resins can cost as much as 70% more than using recycled resin. In addition using recycled resin helps to reduce our dependence of foreign oil. Every year more and more manufacturers are switching to recycled plastic, because it just makes sense!

From our facility in Southern California we process millions of pounds of plastic material into pellets every month. Further, We offer a variety of wide spec and prime virgin plastic material at a great value. Our products are used by companies nationwide who do injection molding, blow molding, plus profile and sheet extrusion. We realize that reprocessed plastic material is an attractive alternative to virgin material only if it is clean and consistent. For that reason alone, we begin our process with select source materials. We buy from companies that understand how to maintain plastic material clean and separated. Our on site laboratory ensures that your material stays consistent from the first box to the last. Joe's Plastics also has a custom blending system that helps us repeat our process every time.

Joe’s Plastics produces high quality recycled plastic from the polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene and ABS families. We start by purchasing only select, clean post-industrial, overruns and surplus. This material is processed through densifying or shredding and ground into “feedstock”. Feedstocks are then mixed according to specific formulas, heated, extruded and cooled to become palletized raw material to meet our customers’ requirements. Our own testing facility and experiences quality control team ensures our customers will receive the highest quality recycled plastic material available.
