About Yard

Glenview Iron & Metal Ltd. is a privately owned, family operated business that specializes in scrap metal processing, demolition and waste removal. The Cassell family started the business in 1937. The company was incorporated twenty years ago and is managed by Chris Cassell (president and CEO), who has twenty five years of experience in the scrap metal and solid waste business. Three generations after we started, GIM is still growing and changing to meet the needs of the scrap metal industry. With our state-of-the-art equipment, we are able to keep up with the demanding world of scrap metal recycling. GIM owns and operates the only MOE certified solid waste transfer station in the area.

How GIM’s Scrap Metal Buying Works

You gather up all your scrap metal, load it up in your vehicle and bring it in to Glenview Iron & Metal Ltd. (off of Glenview Rd. in Smiths Falls). After you drive over our scales, the employee in the scale house will direct you from there. If needed, our scales in the warehouse can accommodate smaller items. Our trained personnel will grade your items and weigh them for you. Once everything is calculated, drive up to the office where we'll pay you your cash!

How Much Will I Get Paid?
What we pay for your metal varies due to market fluctuation, however, we do endeavor to pay you top dollar!

Some Things to Remember
If we have to sort your metals you will just be paid for "mixed scrap," which is usually less than what you would receive for separated items. You will also not receive full value for your scrap if it is not "clean." In other words, if your aluminum boat is not stripped of other materials (like steel rivets, for example) you will be paid less than half due to the cost of our team having to remove them for you. A good rule of thumb is if we have to "handle" the material more than once, you won't be paid as much.
