It is estimated 860,000 tonnes of E-waste is landfilled in Canada annually, and that number is expected to grow as Technology excels rapidly and more electronics become obsolete.Eco-Tech is committed to providing convenient E-waste, alkaline battery recycling and pick-up service to the Waterloo Region through WEEE and non-WEEE recycling programs and selling quality, affordable refurbished computers to home and business clients.
Eco-Tech Waterloo Inc. was established in Waterloo, Ontario in response to the growing social demand for an Electronic Recycling Centre. Since August 2010, Eco-Tech Waterloo Inc. has been providing E-waste solutions for consumers to recycle computer, electronic equipment, including alkaline batteries, industrial/commercial batteries, mixed wires, scrap metals, automotive, and many more exotic and rare items that can be recycled.
Eco-Tech in no way condones the exportation of E-waste to developing Nations. As OES approved generators, we follow strict OES Standards that obligate us to work with a network of OES Primary Processors for WEEE E-waste and SO Primary Processors for Ontario generated special and battery waste.
We are actively reaching out to partners in the business communities and local residents to educate and assist in recycling E-waste responsibly. We have a team of account managers dedicated to promoting green E-waste recycling solutions to the Waterloo Region, Bruce, Grey, and Huron counties.
The electronics that we enjoy every day all contain highly hazardous materials. Cathode ray tubes (CRTs) in computer and television monitors contain lead - which is poisonous to the nervous system - as do circuit boards. Mercury - like lead - a neurotic, is used in flat-panel display screens. Some batteries and circuit boards contain cadmium, which is known to be a carcinogen.
In Ontario alone, 50% of computer and electronic waste is not being disposed of properly. This results in these extremely hazardous materials ending up in landfills, or sent to developing countries that simply do not have the capability to recycle E-waste safely.
Precious metals contained in E-waste such as Gold, Silver, Copper, Mercury, Lead and many more can be reclaimed! By recycling E-waste we can save our natural resources, which are quickly becoming scarce and more costly.
Eco-Tech offers many E-waste solutions ranging from data destruction to E-waste removal services. Eco-Tech will work with you to build a unique solution and meet your environmental strategies and business needs.
Secure Data Destruction
To ensure your data is never seen again, Eco-Tech can physically destroy your hard drives, BlackBerry devices, smart phones, or other storage media device.Using Certified Shredding Equipment, we are able to permanently protect your privacy. Eco-Tech provides a complete log of devices processed identifying them by asset tag, make, model and serial number.
Eco-Tech can evaluate what you have and devise a plan to clear-out your E-waste. Our team can handle de-installing your equipment or assist with consolidating loose items scattered throughout your office or warehouse.
Upon reaching our facility, E-waste is sorted by category such as: display devices, computers, batteries, scrap metals, WEEE, and non-WEEE materials. All sorted WEEE E-waste is then weighed and transported to our network of OES Processors for processing and ultimate extraction of raw materials such as: plastics, glass, and precious metals.
Eco-Tech can consolidate and transport your equipment for IT Asset Recovery. We evaluate all desktop, laptop, server computers, as well as smart phones to determine what can be refurbished and what items are to be recycled.
Once our team has audited your equipment, Eco-Tech can then offer fair market value, allowing you to extend your budget as the value of your assets can be pooled back towards upgrades. We purchase materials per piece or per pound depending on working or defective condition.
Eco-Tech has partnered with organizations throughout the Waterloo Region in an effort to provide convenient drop-off locations to service populations in Fergus, Elmira, Waterloo, Kitchener, and Cambridge.
All collection sites are reputable organizations providing essential services to the Region ranging from support to individuals with developmental disabilities to automotive recycling. All sites are capable of accepting computer and electronic waste at no cost.
