Cambridge Iron & Metal Inc., founded in 1909 in Baltimore, MD announced in December 2015 that we would no longer be operating. For over 106 years, Cambridge Iron & Metal Co., Inc. has been owned and operated by three generations of the Shapiro family. In that time we have not only learned about your business needs, but have formed many close relationships and friendships. We have serviced your businesses through both good times and bad, and unfortunately, it is now our scrap industry that is experiencing a period of unprecedented turmoil and despair. The collapse of global demand for scrap metal has caused a long steady decline in metal prices. This combined with increasing freight rates and operating costs has created a scenario in which we can no longer weather the storm. We have worked tirelessly to keep our business open for our valued customers and our loyal employees, but with the long-term forecasts showing no tangible signs of improvement, there appears to be no way for the company to survive this downturn.
It is with a heavy heart we are announcing that on December 3, 2015, we will cease our operations and begin an orderly wind down and liquidation of our business. We appreciate your business, friendship and loyalty for all these years, and your understanding during these trying times. We will sincerely miss being part of the fabric of the Baltimore industrial community.

Easy to install scales are offered at your place of business for non ferrous customers upon request. Delivery to our 14 acre facility is conveniently located off Interstate 95 with easy access to get in and out quickly. If you desire, you can be paid in cash or we will promptly mail you a check with our computerized scale ticket attached. All scales at our facility are Maryland State Certified.
Hauling can be done for you. We own and operate the largest truck fleet in the Maryland recycling industry. We operate ten roll-off trucks as well as flat bed, dump, van and roll-off trailers. We offer a variety of sizes in our roll-off boxes (15 – 60 yarders) with or without lids. We offer special closed top boxes for added job site security. We currently have over 500 roll-off containers in our fleet. On special jobs we offer around the clock trucking. We also are capable of moving over-sized loads and acquiring the proper permitting. We offer on-site torching for those oversize pieces that are difficult to move due to their size.
We offer Gaylord boxes with pallets, and a wide variety of dump hoppers to make separating your alloys easy and trouble free. We also offer an easy to install digital scale to weigh your material on site. We strive to make your deliveries to us and our pick-ups at your business or job site, trouble free and quickly accomplished. Our promise to you is that we will make your scrap metal recycling as easy and effortless as possible.

It was founded in 1909 by Isaac Shapiro, and has remained family owned and operated for over 100 years. We have been proudly servicing Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Delaware and Central Pennsylvania since 1909. We are best known for our honesty and the personalized service we provide to our customers. With over 100 years in business we have grown to be able to service some of the largest jobs like the Woodrow Wilson Project, the I-95 Interchange, and the Memorial Stadium demolition.
