Single stream recycling makes your goal of diverting waste from the landfill easy for all by allowing one large bin to accommodate all of your paper, cardboard, plastic and aluminum in. Make sure your container is large enough to accommodate all single stream recyclables (paper, cardboard, soda cans, plastic bottles, plastic jugs, yogurt cups, cereal boxes, clean aluminum foil and pie plates, paper milk and juice cartons, mail, greeting cards, empty aerosol cans, plastic bags, plastic lids and caps, plastic toys and plastic buckets)

Our History

In 1961 Bates Trucking’s founder, John Bates, Sr., started collecting garbage in Prince George’s County, Maryland as a private subscription business. He and his wife, Dorothy, went house to house signing up customers and picking up trash and garbage using an open-back trash truck.During the 1970’s four of the five Bates children worked for the company. Bates, Sr., was able to purchase two additional trash trucks, to continue growing his family-owned small business. Bruce Bates took control of the company in the late 1980’s and aggressively established an impressive fleet of trucks, expanding and diversifying the business services to include a large residential and recycling foundation, as well as commercial and government services. Today, Bates Trucking has three (3) locations, serving Prince George’s, Montgomery, Anne Arundel and Queen Anne’s Counties, MD, Northern VA, and the District of Columbia.

Despite all of the changes, one thing has remained the same: We are still a family owned company, committed to providing our customers with the best service and pricing in the industry.Currently Bates Trucking has more than 200 employees that make up their team of skilled, conscientious professionals with an average of seven (7) years experience in the waste management industry. Our senior managers average more than fifteen (15) years of service in the industry.

We take all e-cycling to facilities where they recover valuable materials and conserve virgin resources. Please follow these basic guidelines when preparing your material for collection.

• Please secure all material in disposable bags or bundles not to exceed 50 pounds.
• Waste/recycling items should be placed in designated collection area no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of your scheduled collection. Our drivers will not return to your location if items are not properly placed for collection when they arrive.
• Please place trash directly in a Bates, County or personal garbage container.
• According to Federal law, Bates Trucking is not permitted to accept dead animals, batteries, tires, liquids, combustible materials or any items identified as hazardous.
• Bulky materials including drywall, concrete, bricks, dirt or rocks are not acceptable.
• Drums, barrels, yard and household containers are not acceptable trash containers and will be assumed trash if placed at the curb.
• Bates Trucking is not responsible for damage beyond the curb line.

Residential Recycling

Bates Trucking Trash Removal, Inc. offers a system that doesn’t require recyclables to be separated. Single stream recycling means that paper products and all other recycled materials are commingled and picked up together in all recycling collections. Bates Trucking’s single stream recycling program makes it easier and more convenient for the public to recycle. Counties and cities that are using Bates Trucking single stream recycling program have experienced increases in the recycling participation and rates.

Construction & Demolition

Your business, construction project or demolition site, needs the support of Bates Trucking to provide open top containers ranging from 10 to 30 cubic yards. These containers are used for non-hazardous waste such as construction debris, renovations and large clean-up projects.We provide temporary or permanent roll off services. We offer the right container and collection service to address your specific needs. Our multi-size containers support projects generating large to extra-large amounts of waste and recycling.Bates recycling solutions for construction and demolition sites can aid in your ability to obtain your green designation, such as LEED certification.
