Residential Recycling

Each residential household will be provided with a 64 gallon recycling cart. The following items are accepted and may be placed in your recycling cart: newspaper, mixed paper (including magazines, catalogs, envelopes, junk mail,corrugated cardboard, brown bags, telephone books); glass containers; aluminum beverage containers; small scrap and cast aluminum (not exceeding forty (40) pounds in weight or two (2) feet in any Batteries dimension for any single item);bi-metal containers; empty plastic containers (#1-#7); aluminum foil and pans; dry cell household batteries (please place in a heavy duty plastic zip lock bag).Each residential household may call and request up to two (2) used motor oil containers and a heavy duty zip lock bag for the recycling of up to two (2) used motor oil filters. On your regular collection day just place the container(s) at the curb and AVI will replace them with empties for your next use.

Each residential household is provided with a 64-gallon cart and a food scrap pail. Organic service is provided on a weekly basis. The Organics Recycling Program accepts all types of green waste including grass and weed clippings, shrub and tree prunings, leaves, plants, flowers. The food scrap pail is provided as a convenience and is not necessary to participate in the program. Residents may simply place their food scrap in a brown paper bag, wrap it in newspaper, or place it in a waxed carton such as a milk or ice cream carton and place full containers right into your organics cart. Materials accepted in the new food scrap program include fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood, bones, bread, rice, beans, pasta, cheese, coffee grounds, filters, tea bags, food soiled paper products such as napkins, paper towels, paper cups and paper plates.

Please no plastic or plastic bags, glass, metal, Styrofoam or liquids in your organics cart. Do not set your food scrap pail at the curb.
