About Us

Acden provides essential services for the planning, construction, maintenance and reclamation of Alberta’s Oil Sands and SAGD facilities. Our story began in 1994 with the founding of Denesoline Environment, a waste management company that started with one truck, a labour services contract at Syncrude and fewer than 10 employees. Today, we are proud to be one of Canada’s largest Aboriginal companies.

Acden is owned by the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and our ventures proudly support the First Nations administration and member programs. With 18 companies and over 3,000 employees, we have the diversity, resources and capacity to tackle projects of any scope. By vertically integrating our services and companies, we offer our clients a scalable, one point of contact solution.

Acden Environment recycles the following products from all major Oil Sands sites:

  • Batteries
  • Scrap metal
  • Cardboard
  • Used tires
  • Plastic containers
  • Aerosol containers
  • Oil soaked rags and absorbent towels (oil is recovered and repurposed for asphalt)
  • Used oil filters (oil is recovered and repurposed for asphalt)

  • End of life computers
  • Printer cartridges (are reused)
