About Yard

Here at A&A Scrap Metals we recycle, process and grade all types of scrap metal to help keep our environment clean! Metal recycling is such a key factor in taking care of our future generations that we feel it is our duty to clean up and recycle however we can. Scrap metal which is also known as "Mongo" is our business. A&A Scrap Metals covers all types of ferrous (metal that contains iron), and non ferrous (metals that does not contain iron) metals such as copper brass, aluminum, lead, stainless steal, nickel, etc. We also buy all types of electrical wire and cables, batteries, air conditioning coils and automotive radiators.

We buy metal from all types of customers; the one time customer who is cleaning out their garage or business, or the commercial customer that has scrap metals to sell on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis. We offer a container service for those companies that need on site removal of their scrap metals, as well as our very own trucks with onboard scales that help speed up the process of weighing material. No matter what your situation is, we are here to serve all your scrap metal needs. We promise to be the most aggressive with our pricing and serve you with quality service!

A&A Scrap Metals has customers in all boroughs of New York City: Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan and the Bronx, as well as serving Nassau county. Please bring all of your scrap metal to our facility in Astoria, Queens, and rest assured that you will always be handles with first class service. Our Queens facility is located just minutes outside of New York City.

A&A Scrap Metals was founded over 50 years ago by our father Andrew. He raised $800.00 to buy his first truck so he could scavenge the east coast to buy neon lighting motors and other related metal products. After doing this for over two years and just making ends meet, Andrew decided to stay locally and personally pick up all types of metal from plumbers, electrical, window and siding contractors and who ever else had scrap metal to send off to get paid for. The business was growing so rapidly that Andrew needed to open up his own Scrap Metal yard, and he did so right outside of New York City in Astoria, Queens.

Fast forward 50 plus years, and Andrew is now retired, yet A&A Scrap Metals remains family owned and operated! A&A Scrap Metals has stood the test of time, and has prospered to have long time outstanding employees and its own location in Astoria, Queens.

A&A Scrap has been very fortunate to build many long lasting relationships with our existing clients, and look forward to earning new relationships with customers that will span another 50 years!

Please feel free to call on us for all of your scrap metal needs, and we assure you the best pricing matched with good old fashioned customer service!

What We Do at A&A Scrap Metals

A&A Scrap Metals main job is to recycle, process and grade all types of metal so that it can be reused in the future and reduce the impact it has on the environment! After we process the materials, we then ship them to various refining companies who then reprocess these used metals into brand new materials that can be used all over again in new construction, machines, or even as the sheet metal for new cars and trucks.

We receive our scrap metal from customers that choose to drop it off personally at our scrap metal yard, or by picking up our own containers that we leave at job sites that need direct removal of large quantities of these metals.

Below you will find a list of many different metals that we can recycle for you.

  • Red Brass (contains more copper than yellow brass - if filed has pink color inside)
  • Yellow Brass (most plumbing fittings, door hardware, kick plates, etc., - if filed has a yellow color inside)

Copper

  • #1 Big Insulated (Large insulated copper wire)
  • #1 Copper (Tubing with no solder or fittings, Some insulated wire that is stripped but not shiny, bright sheet copper, non-insulated stripped house wire that is tarnished from weather exposure)
