Tata Steel Launched New Centre for Innovation in Mobility

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading steelmaker Tata Steel Limited announced that it has set up a Centre for Innovation in Mobility (CIM), aimed at boosting the collaboration with the mobility industry in partnership with leading academic institutes.

The CIM has been set up at the Research Park in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras- one of the premier educational institutions in the country.

The media statement released by the steel major noted that the Centre will focus on developing innovative application technologies for existing and future mobility platforms such as automotive, railways and hyperloop. The facility will provide the mobility industry with design and engineering, selection of material, prototyping and final selection.

It must be noted that Tata Steel already runs a state-of-the-art application research centre at Jamshedpur, popularly known as the Steel City of India.

T.V. Narendran, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Steel noted that the new center reinforces the company’s commitment to create innovative solutions for the mobility of the future. The co-operation of industries, academia and suppliers will deliver safe, sustainable and affordable mobility solutions for the future mobility technologies including Hyperloop and Air Taxis, he added.

The new centre will explore commercialization of latest technologies in order to redefine mobility on a global scale.
