SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): CorrVentures LLC announced its plans to build a new recycled containerboard mill in Rensselaer County, New York. The proposed 100% recycled lightweight containerboard mill will be located on a 102 acre site approximately 9 miles south of Albany, NY and will have an operating capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year. The commercial operations of the mill are expected to commence in Q4 2021.
According to company press release, the project titled “Hudson Valley Paperboard Project” is expected to generate approximately 200 direct jobs to the surrounding Rensselaer County, NY, community, in addition to several hundreds of additional jobs, during the construction phase. The project is subject to state and local incentives. The company expects refundable tax credits through the NYS Brownfield Program. The easy access to the proposed facility by common carrier, rail and deep-water barge will help CorrVentures LLC secure its OCC raw material supply.
The design, engineering, procurement and construction of the paperboard mill will be taken care of by a leading global firm. The facility will incorporate state-of-the-art recycling and papermaking technologies, which will enhance the strength and printability of the paper machines.
CorrVentures LLC is a private development firm specializing in strategic project development in the pulp and paper and corrugated packaging markets.
