CIS crude steel output drops 11% in June

The crude steel output by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped nearly 11% during the month of June this year. Sharp decline in production was recorded by Moldova and Ukraine.

CIS crude steel output drops 11% in June

MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) declined by 10.7% during the month of June year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by Byelorussia surged higher by 7.70% during June this year to 232,000 tonnes from 215,000 tonnes in June 2014.  Kazakhstan produced 312,000 tonnes of crude steel, up significantly by 7.2% when compared to 291,000 tonnes production achieved during June last year. Moldova recorded 28,000 tonnes steel output during the month, falling considerably by 22.2% over the previous year. The total crude steel production by Russia was down by 7.5% from 6.101 Million tonnes in June 2014 to 5.643 Million tonnes this June.

There was marked decline in Ukraine’s crude steel output in June. Ukraine’s total crude steel output declined sharply by 21.8% to 2.004 Million tonnes in June 2015 when compared with the output of 2.563 Million tonnes during June last year. Also, Uzbekistan’s crude steel output declined considerably by 12.2% during the month.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first six months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
