AF&PA Announces Retirement of Donna Harman-the Longest-Serving President and CEO

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): After 12 successful years of leadership at the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), Donna Harman has announced her retirement. The retirement will be effective later in 2019 after successful transition of responsibilities to her successor. During her tenure, Harman helped the forestry and paper industry navigate through changing political and public policy dynamics.

Harman played a key role in the development and implementation of a public policy advocacy program that accomplished major policy successes at the federal and state levels. She was instrumental behind the Better Practices, Better Planet 2020 and Paper+Packaging Board initiatives by the industry.

Harman expressed confidence that AF&PA and the industry it represents has a bright future ahead. Continuous innovation and attention to customer needs, coupled with favorable government policies is likely to ensure future success of the Association, she said. Meantime, Pete Watson, new Board Chair, AF&PA commented that the solid foundation left behind by Donna will help her successor propel the industry and association to new heights.

AF&PA had recently announced other new appointments. Lindsay Murphy was appointed as the Executive Director, Strategic Communications to lead the development and execution of the Association’s communication strategy. It had also announced its 2019 slate of AF&PA Board Officers.
