DRI production statistics

The preliminary data published by the World Steel Association indicates that the world direct reduced iron (DRI) production in November this year has remained more or less flat when compared with the month before that.

The world DRI production during the month of November 2016 totaled 4.512 million metric tons, flat when compared with the 4.504 million metric tons production achieved during October this year.

According to World Steel data, Iran ranked first in DRI production during the month. India and Mexico were the second and third largest DRI producing nations.

The estimated DRI output by Iran during November this year was 1.430 million metric tons. The country’s DRI output in November declined modestly when compared with the previous month. The DRI output by Iran had totaled 1.480 million metric tons during the previous month. India’s DRI production in November 2016 totaled 1.155 million metric tons, which is marginally down when compared with the previous month output of 1.193 million metric tons. The Mexican DRI output in November this year amounted to 420,000 metric tons, which is slightly less than the previous month output by the country.

The DRI output (in thousand metric tons) by the other eleven countries in November 2016 is as follows: Canada (60), Saudi Arabia (396), Trinidad & Tobago (Nil), Argentina (95), Peru (Nil), Venezuela (60), Egypt (227), Libya (64), South Africa (63), Qatar (218) and United Arab Emirates (325).
