US weekly raw steel output plunged 4.8% to 1.487 million net tons

The weekly raw steel output by the US dropped sharply by 4.8% during the week ended November 28th, 2015.

US weekly raw steel output plunged 4.8% to 1.487 million net tons

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the raw steel production by the country declined considerably during the week ended November 28th, 2015. The production had recorded decline of 2.4% during the week prior to this.

The total domestic raw steel output during the week ending November 28th was 1,487,000 net tons. The AISI data indicates that the US raw steel production has declined significantly by 4.8% during the week. This is in comparison with the previous week (ie., the week ended Nov 21st)  production figures of 1,562,000 net tons. Also, the weekly output represents a sharp decline of 19.9% in comparison with production of 1,856,000 net tons during same week the previous year.

The capability utilization rate of US steel makers dropped to 62.2% during the week ended Nov 28th, 2015.

The capacity utilization rate has witnessed significant decline when compared with 65.3% during the previous week (ie., the week ending November 21st). Also, capacity utilization was considerably lower when compared with the rate of 77.2% during same week the previous year.
