US weekly raw steel output plunged 4.8% to 1.487 million net tons

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the raw steel production by the country declined considerably during the week ended November 28^th, 2015. The production had recorded decline of 2.4% during the week prior to this.

The total domestic raw steel output during the week ending November 28^th was 1,487,000 net tons. The AISI data indicates that the US raw steel production has declined significantly by 4.8% during the week. This is in comparison with the previous week (ie., the week ended Nov 21^st)  production figures of 1,562,000 net tons. Also, the weekly output represents a sharp decline of 19.9% in comparison with production of 1,856,000 net tons during same week the previous year.

The capability utilization rate of US steel makers dropped to 62.2% during the week ended Nov 28^th, 2015.

The capacity utilization rate has witnessed significant decline when compared with 65.3% during the previous week (ie., the week ending November 21^st). Also, capacity utilization was considerably lower when compared with the rate of 77.2% during same week the previous year.
