US Imports and Exports of Brass Mill Products rose 9% in Sep '14

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council (CBFC), the imports and exports of brass mill products by the US during the month of September '14 have increased over the previous year.

According to data, the US imports of brass mill products during September this year totaled 41.725 million lb, 0.5% higher when compared with 41.492 million lb imports registered during September 2013. The cumulative brass mill products import by the US during the initial nine months of the year amounted to 403.367 million lb, higher by 7.3% when compared with the cumulative imports of 375.763 million lb during the same period, a year ago.

The main exporter of brass mill products to the US during September ‘14 was Germany. The total imports from Germany during the month totaled 8.304 million lb. South Korea followed Germany with total exports to US amounting to 5.826 million lb. In third place was Canada. The brass mill products imports by the US from Canada totaled 4.455 million lb.

Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 11.780 million lb in September. All pipe and tube products imports totaled 17.385 million lb. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 9.525 million lb. Copper alloy wire imports totaled 3.036 million lb.

In accordance with the data released by the CBFC, the US exports of brass mill products totaled 20.655 million lb in September this year, higher by 8.6% from the exports of 19.010 million lb during September 2013. The cumulative brass mill products export by the US during the initial nine months of the year amounted to 194.197 million lb, down 1.6% from the exports of 197.348 million lb during January to September last year.

Exports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 9.964 million lb in September. All pipe and tube products exports totaled 3.063 million lb. Exports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 6 million lb. Copper alloy wire exports totaled 1.627 million lb.
