RMHC's magazines and catalogs collection program spreads out

CARLISLE (Scrap Monster): Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Central Pennsylvania has partnered with Consolidated Scrap Resources, Inc. (CSR) to offer a collection and recycling program for magazines, catalogs and other types of glossy paper. The money raised from the collection event will be utilized towards operational expenses at the Hershey’s Ronald McDonald House.

As part of the event, 22 containers are being placed throughout the Midstate, where the materials will be collected. The collected materials will be picked up by CSR and processed. The processed paper materials will be sold to mills which in turn will use them to generate new magazine paper. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Ronald McDonald House.

RMHC also informed that a new recycling container has been placed in the Members 1st Federal Credit Union, 321 York Road, Carlisle. Meanwhile, the container located at Sam’s Club, Grayson Road, Harrisburg has been temporarily removed. Until the time, the container is returned, magazines and glossy papers can be dropped off at nearby locations, it added.

RMHC initiated the collection program in 2004. According to statistics, a total of nearly 9,000 tons of recycled paper has been collected for recycling since then, generating more than $270,000 for Ronald McDonald House.

RMHC is an independent nonprofit organization which works to create and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. It has a global network of Chapters in 57 countries under three core programs- Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
