BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by North American countries went higher by 1.7% during the month of February year-on-year.
The total crude steel production by Canada during March this year was 1.050 Mt, less than the March 2013 production of 1.131 Mt by 7.2%. The US produced 7.405 Million tonnes of crude steel, slightly higher by 0.9% when compared to 7.339 Million tonnes production achieved during March 2013. The total crude steel production by Mexico witnessed a jump of 10.5% from 1.597 Mt in March 2013 to 1.765 Mt in March this year.
The Cuban crude steel production was up 11.9% from 22,000 tonnes to 25,000 tonnes. The crude steel output by El Salvador was 10,000 tonnes in March this year, surging higher by 18.5%. The country’s crude steel output during March last year was 8,000 tonnes. Guatemala produced 30,000 tonnes in March higher by 9.3% when compared to 27,000 tonnes produced in March last year. The crude steel output by Trinidad & Tobago soared 23.3% in March this year to 44,000 tonnes from 35,000 tonnes during same month the previous year.
