Middle East crude steel output jumped 8.4% in Oct '14

ABU DHABI (Scrap Monster): According to most recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by the Middle East region increased by 8.4% during the month of October year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by Iran during October was 1.444 Million tonnes, increasing by 4.8% in comparison with the October 2013 production of 1.378 Million tonnes. Qatar produced 278,000 tonnes of crude steel, higher by 48.7% when compared to 187,000 tonnes production achieved during October 2013. Meantime, Saudi Arabia’s crude steel output surged over the year to 543,000 tonnes during October this year. The total crude steel production by the UAE during October was 225,000 tonnes, sharply down by 8.2% in comparison with the October 2013 production of 245,000 tonnes.

Iran’s total crude steel output had totaled 1.429 Million tonnes in September ’14. When compared to this, Oct’14 output is considerably higher. Qatar’s production marginally increased from the previous month. Saudi Arabian output surged higher month-on-month during October ‘14. UAE’s October ’14 output rose significantly when compared with 151,000 tonnes during September.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first ten months in 2014 in comparison with those during same period in 2013.
