Fire crews battling out large fire at Crewe scrap yard

LONDON (Scrap Monster): Media reports say that fire fighters are battling out large fire that broke out in a Crewe scrap yard. Six fire engines are attending to the blaze at the scrap yard located on Catherine Street, Gresty Road. As per reports, majority of the fire is being extinguished. However, the crew is on duty to dampen small pockets of fire still at the site.

The firefighters were being called to the incident at 12:59 PM. Police too rushed to the spot to assist fire crews in their operation.

The fire engines from Holmes Chapel,Tarporley,Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach and Middlewich are being jointly indulged in rescue operations. The nearby residents are being told to keep windows closed and remain inside.

The fire is said to have destroyed large number of scrap vehicles and single-store garages, built of wood and brick.

Huge pillars of smoke are still visible in the surrounding area. Catherine Street and the end of Chambers Street now remain closed.

The exact cause of the fire is still not known. There are no reports of injury or casualty at the site.
