CIS crude steel production dropped 5.4% in June '14

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) declined by 5.36% during the month of June month-on-month.

The total crude steel production by Byelorussia was down by 3.15% during June this year to 215,000 tonnes from 222,000 tonnes in the month of May.  Kazakhstan produced 335,000 tonnes of crude steel, lower by 3.18% when compared to 346,000 tonnes production achieved during May ‘14. Moldova recorded 45,000 tonnes steel output during the month. The total crude steel production by Russia were down nearly 1% from 5.947 Million tonnes in May to 5.888 Million tonnes this June.

There was a notable drop in Ukraine’s crude steel output in June. Ukraine’s total crude steel output declined by 9.27% to 2.564 Million tonnes in June 2014 when compared to the output of 2.826 Million tonnes during the previous month. Also, Uzbekistan’s crude steel output dropped considerably by 7.14% during the month of June this year.

The cumulative crude steel output during the initial six months in 2014 of various countries (in thousand tonnes) in the region are as follows:- Byelorussia (1,203), Kazakhstan (1,823), Moldova (203), Russia (34,824) Ukraine (15,473) and Uzbekistan (378).
