CIS crude steel output declined further in Dec '14

MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped by 6.3% during the month of Dec ‘14 year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by Byelorussia surged higher by 41.8% during December last year to 225,000 tonnes from 159,000 tonnes in December 2013.  Kazakhstan produced 274,000 tonnes of crude steel, slightly lower by 1.5% when compared to 278,000 tonnes production achieved during December 2013. Moldova recorded 21,000 tonnes steel output during the month. The total crude steel production by Russia was up by 2.6% from 5.798 Million tonnes in December 2013 to 5.949 Million tonnes in Dec ‘14.

There was marked decline in Ukraine’s crude steel output in December. Ukraine’s total crude steel output declined sharply by 28.5% to 1.903 Million tonnes in Dec ’14 when compared with the output of 2.662 Million tonnes during Dec ‘13. Also, Uzbekistan’s crude steel output declined sharply by 7.3% during the month.
