Asian crude steel production climbed 2.6% in March this year

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Asia improved by 2.6% during the month of March year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by China during March was 70.250 Million tonnes, higher by 2.2% in comparison with the March 2013 production of 68.740 Million tonnes. India produced 7.250 Million tonnes of crude steel, improving by 3.9% when compared to 6.980 Million tonnes production achieved during March 2013.

Japan too reported good improvement in monthly crude steel output during March. Japan's crude steel output jumped 2.9% from 9.453 Million tonnes in March 2013 to 9.729 Million tonnes in the same month this year.

South Korean crude steel production improved considerably by 8% during March from 5.671 Million tonnes in March 2013 to 6.127 Million tonnes in March this year.

The Taiwanese March steel output declined by 5.2% to 1.950 Million tonnes from 2.057 Million tonnes during same month last year.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first three months in 2014 in comparison with those during same period in 2013.
