Manganese steel is sold in rounds, flats, squares and special shapes under the brand name "Manganal". Stulz Sickles Steel Company sells manganese steel nationwide, and also exports products overseas. Most steels use between 0.15% and 0.8% of manganese. With the use of 12-14% manganese, manganese steel is wear resistant, hardened and has renewing value. When heated it is much stronger then carbon steel. Manganese steel has excellent wear resistance, a very high strength, ductility and toughness, in punishing applications. When manganese steel is subjected to wear, the hard surface renews itself continuously. As the surface receives more impact and hammering it becomes harder. It also has a low coefficient of friction. It's non-magnetic properties make it ideal as in the case of electrical transformer 
assemblies.
