In 1993 Recycling Works opened for business as a paper recycling company servicing Bay Area commercial printers and large office buildings. Although business was brisk, it wasn’t long until the principals at Recycling Works sensed that there was an even bigger need in the community.

“We saw a desperate need for a local company that could securely shred confidential documents,” said Richard Talvola, President of Shred Works. In 1995, with security in mind, Recycling Works purchased a large plant-based shredder, installed a state-of-the art video monitoring security system and Recycling Works was “reborn” as Shred Works.

Along the way, Shred Works became known for a number of key “firsts,” including these highlights:

• In 2003 we became the first plant-based shredding company in the area to be awarded a AAA NAID Certification from the National Association for Information Destruction. (We have maintained our certification ever since.)
• Shred Works was the first area shredding company to “double shred” all confidential documents, virtually eliminating any possibility that shredded materials could be reconstructed.
• Shred Works is the first and only area shredding company to offer a Three Point Guarantee, which includes an information security guarantee, a life-time price freeze for all clients, and an “On-Time or Shred for Free” service guarantee.

Over the last 2 decades our reputation for secure shredding and recycling has grown and our client list has expanded. What started as a two-person, one-truck paper recycling business has grown to 20 trucks and 40 full-time employees, all housed in a highly-secure, 20,000 square foot facility.

We thank all of our clients who have made our rapid growth possible, and pledge to continue our commitment that has yielded these amazing results. Soon Shred Works was servicing a wide range of clients like healthcare facilities, banks and credit unions, mortgage and title companies, lawyers, accountants, small businesses, retail facilities, and virtually any organization that needed to shred confidential information.
