Sanico, Inc. provides recycling and solid waste collection services to homes, business and industry in NJ counties of Hunterdon, Morris, and Warren.Jim Smith founded the company in October 1973. With some financial help from his parents, Enid and Henry, he purchased his “fleet”, consisting of one used rear loading packer garbage truck. Jumping in and out of the truck every day on a small residential collection route, he “worked off” the route, and went on to acquire other routes in Warren, Morris and Hunterdon counties.After many years of hard work, Sanico (a contraction of sanitation company) employs more than 35 men and women who roll out faithfully every day at 5:00 a.m., to get it PICKED UP! The fleet now consists of 25 trucks and provides residential, commercial, industrial and recycling services.

Recycling

Nearly every day we receive phone calls asking this question. Recycling day is scheduled for the same day as your garbage pickup. Sanico sends two trucks on those days: a garbage truck with crew and a recycling truck with crew. In most cases when your recycling has not been picked up, the recycling crew was unable to distinguish your recycling can from your garbage can. Sanico has given you a recycling decal specifically for your recycling can in order to set it apart from your garbage cans. If you do not have a decal, please call the office. Place the decal on your recycling can and position your recycling can with the decal facing the roadway so that the recycling crew can see it.Keep your recycling can, bundled newspaper and buckets of junk mail separate from your garbage so they can be seen. The best situation is to place recycling and garbage on opposite sides of the driveway. Also, do not put garbage in the recycling can marked with the decal. By law, the recycling crew can not accept garbage and the garbage crew will not dump a can marked for recycling.

Residential

Standard Curb Service

Sanico will collect up to 100 gallons of household garbage in cans or bags once each week. Waste includes kitchen and bathroom waste only (no clean-up or construction debris – see Special Service). Sanico will provide a Cart in most service areas. Do not use garbage cans larger than 32 gallons capacity. Cans must be placed within 5 feet of the public roadway.Your service includes every other week pick-up of recyclable materials in municipalities that allow curbside pick-up. • Carts are available in most service areas. Carts must be placed curbside and facing the roadway. 
• Extra bags, large items, etc., contact us in advance of service day and during our office hours. There is an extra charge for this service.
• Place trash out the night before your scheduled pick-up day. Collections begin at 5 a.m. If your trash is not out when our service personnel arrive, pick-up will be made the following week.
