Clear Path Recycling, LLC is a joint venture between Shaw Industries Group, Inc and DAK Americas, LLC. The company was created to recycle post-consumer PET bottles to produce Recycled PET (RPET) Flake.Shaw Industries is the world's largest carpet manufacturer and leading floor covering provider. DAK Americas is the largest Polyester Staple Fiber producer and the second largest PET Resin producer in the Americas. Both companies will utilize the majority of the RPET Flake produced by CPR as a feed stock to enhance the value and sustainability of their respective offerings in the flooring, fibers, and resins industries.

Clear Path Recycling will recycle approximately 280 million pounds of plastic (PET) bottles annually resulting in over 1 million cubic yards per year of landfill space being conserved. The energy savings related to Clear Path Recycling's operation will save approximately 2.5 trillion BTUs of energy annually, which is equal to the amount of primary energy necessary to power 18,000 U.S. homes per year.

Products

Clear Path Recycling utilizes reclaimed Post Consumer PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate) plastic bottles and converts them to RPET (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate) flake.CPR will consume the majority of the RPET it produces internally through the product offerings of its joint venture owners, Shaw Industries and DAK Americas:Approximately 75% of the RPET Flake produced by CPR will be used by Shaw & DAK Americas in their respective products as follows:

• Shaw Industries - will utilize RPET flake in its polyester based carpet products
• DAK Americas - will utilize RPET flake in its PET Resins and Polyester Staple Fiber products

Facilities

Clear Path Recycling, LLC is building a new state –of-the-art facility in Fayetteville, NC to recycle over 280 million pounds annually of PET bottles, or about 5 billion bottles. The first phase of the new facility will process 160 million pounds of PET bottles and will be operational in the first quarter of 2010. A second phase, planned for completion in 2011, will bring the operation to capacity at 280 million pounds, making Clear Path Recycling, LLC the largest PET recycling operation in North America.
