Ex-CASE Construction global president Carl Gustaf Göransson’s latest challenge is to revitalise the world’s oldest metal recycling company – LINDEMANN. Like his machines that convert scrap back into valuable metals, Göransson is a skilled transformer.

And now this laid-back and approachable Swede has a new challenge… 

His latest endeavour sees him at the helm of LINDEMANN Metal Recycling, a company with a storied past and untapped potential. For more than a century the company has been the international benchmark in the design and production of premium shredders, shears and presses used in the metal recycling industry. And today it is a global player, with operations in more than 20 countries. In a recent interview, Göransson shared his vision for revitalizing the venerable German engineering pioneer. 

Heritage with a modern twist 

At its highest level the new-look LINDEMANN strategy is hinged on triggering transformations on three levels. Firstly, it aims to take the very best from LINDEMANN’s long engineering heritage and transform it for success in the technological age. Secondly, it focuses on transforming the industry, by giving customers the means to achieve market-leading levels of profitability –– thanks to product innovation and lifelong customer support. Finally, the new strategy hopes to transform society. The metal recycling industry can play an outsized part in helping communities lower their carbon footprints, by driving the circular metal economy.  

In short, by providing the tools to transform scrap metal into precious metal, LINDEMANN believes the world needs its skills more than ever. 

Putting tech building blocks in place

Upon assuming the role of CEO in September 2023, Göransson wasted no time in identifying key areas for improvement. Acknowledging LINDEMANN's heritage and its recent struggle for visibility under previous ownership, Göransson set out to reignite the company's spark. His extensive best-practice playbook, honed over years of industry experience, is proving instrumental in reshaping LINDEMANN's sales process, and delivering a customer-centric experience.
