Families invited to drop off worn clothing for recycling at select Carter’s locations across California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, and Oregon

TRENTON, NJ (May 13, 2025) — Carter’s®, the trusted name in baby and children's apparel, and TerraCycle®, an international leader in innovative sustainability solutions, are teaming up to help families recycle used baby and kid clothing that’s past its prime, keeping valuable materials out of landfills and incinerators.
Starting May 1 and running throughout the month, families are invited to bring used baby and kid clothing from any brand to participating Carter’s stores across California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, and Oregon.
"When it’s time to part with children’s clothing, families often pass items down, donate them, or consign them—but sometimes, those well-loved pieces are simply too worn to be reused," said Tom Szaky, Founder and CEO of TerraCycle. "By working with Carter’s, we’re giving families one more easy option: recycling fabric into something new and keeping it out of landfills and incinerators. It’s a small step that can help create a more sustainable future for the next generation."
Through the partnership with TerraCycle, clothing collected during the event will be separated by fabric type, shredded, and recycled into raw materials. Natural fiber textiles, such as cotton, will be processed into insulation materials; synthetic fibers will be blended with other plastics for use in products like composite lumber and sheeting; and mixed-fiber textiles will be repurposed as filler for items such as mattresses or pet bedding.
