NORTHAMPTON-UNITED KINGDOM 4th, June 2019 - DS Smith Plastics, Foam Products announced today that their new HOTBIN Mini Composter was awarded RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year 2019 at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The new HOTBIN Mini is a slimline unit, suitable for urban gardens that includes all the features of the original HOTBIN composter. The HOTBIN Mini can reach temperatures of 40-60°c, where all food and garden waste can be composted including cooked food, small bones and perennial weeds in just 30-90 days.

Among twelve other finalists in the prestigious competition, the HOTBIN Mini was chosen as the winner by three esteemed judges; Deborah Meaden (Entrepreneur and BBC’s Dragons Den), Chris Harrop (Group Marketing Director and Director of Sustainability at Marshalls) and Peter Seabrook (Gardening Correspondent for The Sun).

“The HOTBIN Mini Composter showed real innovation in making composting cleaner, simpler and more accessible for modern households.  This year the standard was incredibly high and shows that the UK is leading in garden product innovation and sustainability.”
Judges: Deborah Meaden, Chris Harrop and Peter Seabrook

With the HOTBIN Mini, DS Smith Plastics, Foam Products, is bringing hot composting capabilities to a wider range of households. The HOTBIN Mini facilitates the reduction of waste sent to landfill via kerbside collections by encouraging a wider group of people to recycle their domestic waste into compost for use in home growing. As more houses are built with limited garden space, the HOTBIN Mini is the right solution for those with restrictions on space who want to make a contribution to the environment.

“We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. It has always been HOTBINs’ passion to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill by making home composting quick, efficient and accessible to more people. The addition of the HOTBIN Mini to the HOTBIN Composting range has enabled us to fulfil this purpose by making hot composting available to those who are passionate about the environment but have limited garden space.”
