6061-T651 Aluminum Plate - (ASTM B209, QQ-A-250/11) Offers a combination of increased strength, corrosion resistance, and machinability making it the most widely used aluminum grade. 6061 Aluminum Plate is heat treatable, resists cracking due to stress, is easy to weld and machine, but limited on formability. 6061 Aluminum Plate is ideal for structural framing, base plates, gussetts, motorcycle & automotive parts, etc.  6061 is a good, general purpose aluminum alloy with magnesium and silicon as its alloying elements. 6061 has the highest resistance to corrosion of all the heat treated aluminums, but strength is lower. 6061 has a wide range of mechanical properties and is readily machined and has good forming properties. 6061 welds easily, has excellent joining characteristics, and good acceptance to anodizing and other applied coatings. Electrical conductivity is 40% of copper.6061 aluminum is a heat treatable (strong) alloy with 1.0% magnesium and 0.6% silicon. 6061-T651 aluminum plate has a mill finish.

6061 aluminum plate is used in many exposed applications due to its good corrosion resistance and ability to tolerate varying temperature levels. It continues to perform well in outdoor or slightly corrosive environments without losing its strength, heat resistance or surface finish, 6061 plate is easy to machine and stamp to tight tolerances and can be welded. Coatings adhere to the surface and are long-lasting.

Applications

6061 plate is used for larger parts that are exposed to outdoor or lightly corrosive environments. These include aircraft landing mats, large and small marine vessels, structural architectural parts, storage tanks and highway signs. It  is commonly used for structural components, frames, brackets, jigs, fixtures, base plates, machine parts, hydraulic valve bodies, valves parts, fuse parts, gears, worm gears, rectifier parts, fasteners, truck and marine components, marine fittings and hardware, electrical fittings and connectors, hinge pins, magneto parts, appliance fittings, camera lens mounts, etc. 6061 is used for heavy duty structures requiring good strength-to-weight ratio with good corrosion resistance. 6061 is easily cold worked and formed in the annealed condition. Cutting, stamping, bending, deep drawing, drilling, tapping, etc. are all readily accomplished using standard methods.6061-T651 aluminum plate uses include engineering and structural application, boats/ships, furniture, transportation equipment, heat exchangers.
