In fact, they were the coins the Colonists didn't use to pay the British stamp tax and sugar tax-they just stuffed the coins back in their pockets! But today, like all other Revolutionary artifacts, they're hard to find-why, even a 1776 paper receipt for a ton of iron sold recently for over $1,500!
