Adam Weitsman Announces $1M Investment in Western New York

Allegany, NY—In direct response to considerable growth, CEO Adam Weitsman of Ben Weitsman of Allegany announced significant renovations to the company’s location at 34 W. Union St. In addition to the company’s 15 other locations, the renovated space in Allegany will allow for further expansion and more efficient operations for the company, which is the East Coast’s largest privately owned scrap metal processor and recycling center.

The improvements, a $1 million dollar investment planned for the Allegany scrap yard, include new, state-of-the-art equipment, repaving, new fencing, and updated signage, in addition to building repairs including painting and preventative maintenance.

“Each location is an integral part of our ability to provide the best possible retail and commercial scrapping experience for our customers and the communities we serve, which is why I prioritize keeping each and every yard in top condition. Efficient and up-to-date scrap yards are a key component of our business, and are how we handle the significant tonnage of scrap metal that is processed by our locations each year,” said Weitsman.

Ben Weitsman of Allegany is a part of Upstate Shredding-Weitsman Recycling, which generates collective sales of close to $1 billion each year. The companies are headquartered in Owego, NY on a 17-acre environmentally certified facility. Other New York locations include Jamestown, Hornell, Rochester, Syracuse, Owego, Binghamton, and Albany, in addition to two Pennsylvania locations in Scranton and New Castle.
