• High school diploma required; college degree in business or engineering desirable or equivalent business experience preferred.
• Up to 5 years experience in the scrap business or 10 years in a related field, preferably as a buyer, is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain existing customer base, developing and acquiring new profitable business for the Company in order to increase revenue and ensures that organizational services consistently meet client needs.
• Responsible for maintaining good business contacts and favorable relations with current customers (scrap dealers, peddlers, and other suppliers) to assure meeting plant requirements for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap and for generating new business promoting our services through various means.
• Acquiring new customers through intelligent, consistent, and tenacious prospecting.
• Independent judgment, initiative, creative thinking, and an entrepreneurial drive are needed to successfully accomplish set goals
• Gathers appropriate information about the local market for raw material concerning cost trends and availability of supply.
• Arranges for the transportation of the steel scrap raw material to the plant at the most economical cost and to meet plant processing schedules.
• Assists in developing strategic plans for new business such as different sources of raw material.
• Interacts with the Operations Department concerning the grading by quality of steel scrap delivered to the plant.

• Requires considerable contact with steel scrap dealers in person and by telephone to negotiate purchases of raw scrap and to assure timely deliveries.

• The employee may be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.
